We look towards the future - wet wood storage project
As a partner of GALA-MIBRAG-Service GmbH we supported MIBRAG in a very special project.
Untreated spruce logs from storm events are to be salvaged by preserving them in so-called water storage facilities. The temporary storage protects the logs from insects, improves their durability and maintains their quality.
The “wet storage” according to the “Scandinavian model” can prevent the uncontrolled drying of the wood to save its natural moisture content. Thus, any surplus quantities can be best stored for many years without any loss of quality.
This is an important step in terms of resource conservation, value preservation and sustainability.
Our team was responsible for the coordination of various series of experiments in order to test and document the best practices.
