Another project is the construction of a wind farm with 17 powerful wind turbines in close proximity to the Schleenhain opencast mine. The wind farm with a capacity of 102 MW and an annual electricity generation of around 230 GWh is expected to deliver electricity from 2024.
In a country such as South Africa that relies heavily on coal production for electricity generation, the quality of the fuel can determine the difference between a fully operational power plant and one that’s crippled by breakdowns or – at best – running at below optimum capacity.
From March 3 to March 24, 2021, Kursk hosted an international conference and technical visit with the topic “Mining industry in Russia and the CIS: construction and modernization”. Mikhailovsky GOK acted as a strategic partner. The event was held with the support of the Kursk Region Administration and the personal participation of the Governor of the Kursk Region, Roman Starovoit.
